Buongiorno a tutti!

Whatsapp - talking aboub deafness - talking about our lives.I was chatting with some friends a few days ago and we were talking about the loss of hearing.
A person wrote about her experience and I'm going to share it, with her permission.
When doctors propose the cochlear implant to a patient, the most common reaction is perhaps fear.
This delicate surgery often takes almost 4 hours. People spend a lot of time thinking about the cochlear implant, they usually feel scared about the surgery and its implications, not just aesthetically.
I think we could help people who are going to put the cochlear implant, they want know strengths and weaknesses .
The woman wrote these words:Hi everybody!
For those of you who are undecided about the cochlear implant, for the ones "to do or not to do”, now or later… well, it’s a very hard choice. I know it because I had to deal with this choice some years ago.
I wasn’t able to make a decision and I've waited until the last... in the end I got my first cochlear implant and only two years after that… I got the second CI!
I lost almost the sound altogether before accepting the idea of having a CI.
I had no choice, I had to put that implant.

I was really scared but the will of hear again was stronger! Something changed in me, I was ready and I made my decision.
Now that I have two cochlear implants, I'm more objective and there is the voice of reason… why did I wast all this time?
And let me give y'all a tip: if I could go back, I’d get both of CI at the same time!
It means: 1 surgery, 1 anesthesia, a faster rehabilitation, instead of two.
I don’t complain, that’s how it was. I’m very happy, I did what I felt was right.
Thanks to my bionic ears, I was reborn.

I wonder if there's someone who decided to get both the cochlear implants at the same time... this girl, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in March 2017, also sent us her pictures, on the seashore, with her beehive hair and her cochlear implants in plain sight. But then again, she was doing something more important: she was listening to the sound of the sea.
